Hello! I’m Ellen (Chengcheng), currently living in New York with a furry friend and a loving boyfriend.
I was born in China, went to school in the USA, worked in Germany. Having lived in 3 different countries makes me humble and curious about different cultures and perspectives. I graduated from Architecture school at UC Berkeley. With my architecture background, I’m good at systematic thinking and experimenting with different design solutions.
What got me into product design is my passion for understanding people. I started my career by working on SaaS B2B products like AI analytics platform at Portcast and customer engagement platform at Braze. Currently, I’m designing the best storage experience at MakeSpace. I work on both consumer-facing and internal products from research, wireframes, design iterations, prototyping to tracking data. I partnered with the PM, engineers and other stakeholders closely during the process.
Outside of work, I'm passionate about knowledge-sharing, mental health and environmental design. I'm an active design mentor at a global design community called ADPList. And I actively work on side projects about mental health and the place we live in. Check out my experiment!
Besides design, I’m an avid traveler who loves cooking. From local markets like ‘Trader Joe’s’ to foreign store ‘Viktualienmarkt’ in Munich, I take pleasure exploring new ingredients from all around the world. My recent obsession? Pumpkin-stuffed french toast.
